I Hate This...

I am proud that I share my birthday with one of the greatest persons India has produced, who rose despite tremendous barriers in his path to become the Chairman of the committee which wrote Indian Constitution. (and I am aware that I have given away my birth date for one and all who know their civics)

But I am not proud of being Indian today if it means that some towns across India are burning because some antisocial elements did what they do best.

I am not sure whether this is one more argument against raising statues at every corner of India, or one more example of how politics is (is that correct grammar?) crazy, that the Deccan Queen burns when there is some problem in Kanpur. Have I been out of India for so long that Deccan Queen now takes a detour through Kanpur? And if it does, how can we call it "Deccan" Queen when it goes north?

it really hearts to see this beautiful country being torn apart for some people's vested interest.

like in american beauty, "this country is going straight to hell" and its just too painful watching it happen

@figo: i dont think incidents like these should encourage the thought that country is going to hell...

and do u think this was done by so called dalits... bull shit...
any average human being doesn't have the courage to go, force the people out and torch a train...
reports are already coming that it is a underworld hand...
Incidents such as these should motivate us to keep striving to improve our society .. i too hate it..but at the same time I hope that many more souls as yours and mine are stirred and we do more than just hating the incident...

@Figo: True, it is all about vested interest.

@Sid: Well, we have seen many incidents where people just capture railways to go to mumbai on certain dates. I am not blaming all dalits, what I am saying is this is what "vested interests" make people do. It's all politics you know...
And as somebody said, a person is a logical being, people are stupid.

I just don't understand why to put statues or for that matter any damn thing at every nook & corner? They are bound to deteriorate with time. Then even if a piegion makes it dirty, 3/4 trains lose their existence.

It is just an excuse for politically inclined ppl to take advantage out of nothing. Look at the damages done to public property.

We might be progressing in the field of science & technology but unless & untill we grow ourselves out of these nonsense issues, we can not move ahead.

@Cuckoo: There was a plan of creating statue garden, where all statues in the city would be relocated. That would have been a good plan.

@Keshi: It is even more weird (sad in fact) that some people incite the violance for political advantage.
