That Life and Art thingie, again
Von Bork pushed over a telegram.
"Will come without fail to-night and bring new sparking plugs. Altamont."
"Sparking plugs, eh?"
"You see he poses as a motor expert and I keep a full garage. In our code everything likely to come up is named after some spare part. If he talks of a radiator it is a battleship, of an oil pump a cruiser, and so on. Sparking plugs are naval signals."
- His Last Bow, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Now reading this, I can think of only 2 options:
- Somebody in ISI read “His Last Bow” and came up with brilliant idea for ciphers.
- Somebody in ISI read “His Last Bow” and came up with brilliant idea to mislead everybody else.
Which one do you prefer?

that's assuming somebody in the ISI has even reading Arthur Conan Doyle!
:D
@TGIP: I decided to be a bit generous in my assumptions ;) Plus, that makes for a better list than if this was just a random coinc., right?

@Amrita: I guess you can tell I am a Holmes fan.
Yeah I'm with TGIP here.
@DDD: Ahem, I maintain anybody who hasn't read at least one Holmes story hasn't lived his life. So there... ;)
Hehe, you're far too generous ;)
Word verification: procken.
What do you think it would mean?
P.S: Hitchiker's Guide part six out now. Are you going to read it?
Procken = Pro chicken. You know, not the one amateur road crosser. ;)
"And another thing" is already in library hold queue :D
I would say mislead everyone. Somehow ciphers in ISI ...hmm.
yes I could!
It is extremely interesting for me to read this article. Thanks the author for it. I like such themes and anything that is connected to them. I definitely want to read more on that blog soon.
Best regards
